SUZUKI ALTO COMES UP TRUMPS IN MPG MARATHON

Suzuki’s latest addition to the model range, the Alto, took part in the 2009 MPG Marathon and achieved some spectacular results. The Alto was driven by Western Group Regional journalists Dave Moss and Reg Burnard and achieved an average of 75.94 mpg; an improvement of 18 per cent on the official consumption figures.

The MPG Marathon; organised annually by Fleet World magazine started at Brandon Hall near Coventry and took 37 competing vehicles on a challenging 360-mile route into East Anglia, Shropshire and Oxfordshire before finishing back in Warwickshire.

The route was designed to reflect normal daily driving conditions and included major roads, motorways and dual carriageways.

Speaking about the event, David Seward, Sales and Marketing Director commented: “The MPG Marathon has been an excellent opportunity to showcase Suzuki’s commitment to producing fuel efficient, cleaner cars.

The Alto is one of the cleanest petrol cars on sale with very low cost of ownership and with the help of the scrappage scheme it is proving extremely popular amongst new car buyers with sales approaching 6,000 since launch in March.”
